Senior Expert in Digital Infrastructure and System Architecture
Are you interested in developing digital infrastructures that enable trusted information sharing across organisations, systems and modes of transport? Do you have extensive experience in system architecture, software development and complex integration environments? Would you like to apply your expertise to research and innovation initiatives shaping the future of transport and logistics?
If so, RISE Digitalised Transport Systems offers an exciting opportunity.
About us
At Digitalised Transport Systems, we conduct applied research to explore opportunities in digitalisation, logistics, and transport systems. Our research employs various methodologies and is carried out in close collaboration with stakeholders in the transport and automotive sectors. Most of our projects are funded by research financiers, but we also have some directly funded projects, such as investigations for authorities and research projects with Swedish companies.
The unit works closely with academia, industry, and the public sector. Our researchers and experts are located in Lund, Gothenburg, Kista, and Umeå. The location will therefore be one of these four cities, and we follow a hybrid work model that allows you to split your time between the office and your home workspace.
About the position
We are looking for an experienced technical expert in system architecture and software development who wants to contribute to research and innovation.
You will play a key role in the continued development of VWTnet, the digital infrastructure of the Virtual Watch Tower (VWT) initiative. VWT brings together actors across transport and logistics to improve information sharing and situational awareness along end-to-end transport chains.
Your responsibilities will include:
Designing system architectures and developing software solutions
Building APIs, system integrations and information models
Supporting interoperability and relevant standards
Translating operational needs and use cases into technical solutions
Collaborating with researchers, developers, domain experts and external partners
You will also contribute to other research and innovation projects at RISE that involve digital infrastructure and information sharing across organisational and system boundaries. Depending on the project, you may take the role of architect, developer, technical project leader or technical expert.
Who are you?
You have extensive professional experience in system architecture, software development or related areas, combined with a relevant university degree or equivalent competence.
Experience from working in research and innovation projects is highly valued.
To succeed in this role, we believe you have experience and knowledge in several of the following areas:
Extensive experience in IT architecture, solution architecture and/or system development.
Experience of designing and developing solutions in complex integration environments.
Experience of hands-on software development combined with architectural responsibilities.
Strong understanding of system integration, APIs, and information exchange.
Knowledge of interoperability, standards and information models.
Experience of translating operational and organisational needs into technical architectures and implementable solutions.
Experience from collaborative development, research or innovation initiatives involving multiple organisations.
Experience of working with stakeholders from industry and/or the public sector.
Ability to communicate complex technical issues to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Fluent in Swedish and English, both spoken and written
It is an advantage if you have:
Experience from transport, logistics or mobility is particularly valuable. Experience from multimodal or maritime transport, European research and innovation projects, distributed or federated digital infrastructures, standardisation activities and technical project leadership is considered an advantage.
Personal qualities:
We are looking for someone who combines technical depth with a strong systems perspective. You enjoy understanding how different systems and organisations need to interact and turning complex requirements into practical technical solutions.
You are proactive, self-motivated, and comfortable taking ownership of technical questions while working closely with others. You enjoy moving between architecture, development, and dialogue with stakeholders, and you thrive in an environment where technologies, standards, and requirements continue to evolve.
Welcome with your application!
